Riot’s tag-team fighter 2XKO is live today on Xbox Series X|S as a free-to-play release. Built around 2v2 play with League of Legends champions, the launch build includes 12 champions, a dedicated Learning Hub, and a flexible team-modifier system called Fuses. Newcomers can lean on assisted systems like Pulse Combo, while veterans get advanced tutorials and combo trials. Below are the key features and practical details confirmed in the official announcement.

2XKO is structured around 2v2 matches, playable with a friend or solo. Offscreen partners can use Assist moves – press A or back + A – to extend pressure, cover gaps, or set up conversions. Assist examples at launch include:

  • Braum – Stand Behind Me (back + A): jumps in to shield an ally, creating breathing room under pressure.
  • Blitzcrank – Rocket Grab (A): pulls an enemy toward your team, enabling follow-up hits.
  • Vi – Crater Maker (back + A): ground punch with an aftershock that can catch aerial approaches.

When playing together, a partner can swap in by pressing A immediately after your Assist connects – enabling coordinated offense, defensive saves, and more complex duo routes.

Finding a main – and early synergies

At launch, the roster features 12 champions, each with a distinct playstyle. Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover, joins as the newest addition, bringing trap setups and long-range pressure. The game encourages pairing styles that complement each other; suggested starting points include:

  • Caitlyn + Vi: ranged control from Caitlyn combined with Vi’s close-quarters brawling for pressure at any distance.
  • Darius + Ekko: Darius’s high-damage, slower tools supported by Ekko’s mobility and teleportation to open targets safely.
  • Ahri + Braum: aerial-leaning spell pressure from Ahri with Braum’s shield to stabilize defense and reposition.

Pulse Combo – a gentler on-ramp to strings

Pulse Combo simplifies early execution. In champion select, press RT to enable it. With Pulse Combo on, repeatedly pressing the same attack button will trigger an autocombo sequence if the first hit lands. There are unique autocombos for X, Y, and B, giving a quick read on how a character’s moves link together.

Learning Hub – modes and progression

The Learning Hub groups tutorials and training tools to bring players up to speed:

  • Bot Beatdown: Win against bots to unlock chromas that alter the color palettes of four champions.
  • Tutorial: A fundamentals track covering movement, attacks, and blocking. Completion grants avatar cosmetics.
  • Combo Trials: Character-specific routes across beginner-to-expert difficulties.
  • Advanced Lessons: Deeper techniques for offense, defense, teamwork, and movement.

A dedicated Training mode is also available for controlled practice against bots.

Fuses – shaping team identity

Fuses modify how your duo functions and are selected after choosing champions. At launch, the following are available:
