Ubisoft has announced a major update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage — Valley of Memory launches November 18 as a free download for all players on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The story content unfolds before the game’s final chapter, sending Basim to AlUla after rumors surface that his father may still be alive. The update adds over six hours of new content, including missions, assassination targets, contracts, and side activities. It also introduces parkour refinements, replayable missions, expanded tool customization, and new difficulty levels.

Story arc and new region: AlUla

Valley of Memory centers on Basim’s search in the historic valley of AlUla, which is threatened by a band of robbers. Players can explore a new open area featuring the old city of AlUla, Ramm Valley, and the Hegra necropolis. Alongside fresh missions and side quests, there are world activities such as collecting music sheets during parkour challenges to play the oud.

Parkour and control improvements

Parkour remains a core pillar, and the update aims to smooth traversal across Baghdad and AlUla. Players can now toggle manual jumping, customize side and back ejects, and use a reworked control scheme designed to make movement more responsive and consistent.

Replayable missions with new constraints

After completing select main missions and contracts, they become replayable with time limits and optional constraints that shift how you approach each scenario. Examples include assassinating without Eagle Vision, only eliminating the main target, or staying undetected. These variants offer exclusive in-game rewards and can be accessed via the Animus Sequences on the objective board.

Skills and tools: new upgrades and deeper builds

Basim’s skill tree adds “Engineer 2”, enabling all Level 1 tool modifications to be equipped simultaneously. Every tool also gains a Level 3 modification, pushing stealth and crowd control options further — especially useful for tougher mission replays.

The table below summarizes each tool’s new Level 3 effect, providing a clear view of how they change moment-to-moment stealth and combat decisions.

More ways to tailor the challenge

Two new difficulty presets expand Mirage’s options, alongside existing permadeath and a customizable difficulty feature that lets players adjust specific parameters. Presets now include:

  • Apprentice
  • Assassin
  • Hardened Assassin – similar to Assassin, with higher enemy defense
  • Master Assassin
  • Ultimate Assassin

Completing the game with permadeath on Hardened Assassin unlocks the Obsidian Rayhan costume dye, while finishing with permadeath on Ultimate Assassin grants the Skull Emblem talisman.

How to start Valley of Memory

The update downloads automatically. To begin the quest in an ongoing playthrough, find the boy at the Harbiyah Bureau, then follow the prompt to visit Dervis’ shop, where the new arc begins. Alternatively, you can select Valley of Memory from the main menu by starting a new game; your level, gear, and skills will be adjusted to suit the storyline.

Why it matters – a denser stealth sandbox

Valley of Memory doesn’t just add narrative – it broadens Mirage’s stealth toolkit and difficulty spectrum, encouraging varied builds and cleaner routes. If you enjoy replayable objectives and precise movement, these systems aim to reward mastery.
