Blood: Refreshed Supply locks Dec 4 date, rebuilt from original code
Nightdive Studios has set a December 4 release for Blood: Refreshed Supply on all platforms – including Xbox One and Series X|S. The remaster of Monolith’s 1997 horror FPS has been rebuilt using the game’s original source code, which Nightdive recently recovered after years of searching. The studio positions this as the definitive take on Blood, focusing on authentic feel and precise gameplay behavior rather than sweeping changes. Visual upgrades include remade cutscenes and platform-specific boosts, while new and restored features round out the package.
Why the original code matters

Nightdive previously shipped Blood: Fresh Supply without access to the source code, relying on reverse engineering. With the original code now in hand, the team says it could align systems and feel more closely with the 1997 release.
“Reverse engineering is extremely time-consuming and is prone to mistakes, leading to various aspects of gameplay feeling off,” said lead KEX developer Samuel “Kaiser” Villareal.

“Having the source code to work from not only enables us to make a faithful remaster that matches the original in terms of ‘look and feel,’ it also allows us to see how the original developers were able to design the game,” added Nightdive’s Larry Kuperman.
CEO Stephen Kick noted that tracking down classic game source code is often difficult, but emphasized preservation when it’s found.

What’s new in Refreshed Supply
The rebuild enables a mix of visual, gameplay and platform-specific improvements. Nightdive highlights changes players will notice immediately, particularly in movement and responsiveness.

- Rebuilt from original source code for a closer match to the 1997 gameplay and behavior.
- Remade cutscenes and visual updates; 4K at 120 FPS on Xbox Series X.
- Expanded options for enemy behavior and bug fixes across original levels.
- Previously cut weather effects restored.
- Additional level refinements not present in Blood: Fresh Supply.

Blood comes to Xbox consoles for the first time. Nightdive cites improved controller support and 8-player split-screen multiplayer on Xbox Series X|S as platform highlights.
New scenarios and long-term support

Nightdive is adding fresh content alongside the remaster, with the most substantial additions arriving as scenarios that extend the campaign structure.
Combined, Marrow and Death Wish add 72 new levels, marking the first official expansions for Blood since 1997’s Cryptic Passage and Plasma Pak. As with other Nightdive releases, a new Vault will include bonus materials such as dozens of playable cut-content levels, concept art, behind-the-scenes photos and unused sprites.

Launch timing and platforms
Release date: December 4. Nightdive states it will launch on all platforms – including Xbox One and Series X|S. On all platforms, the remaster includes the new content roadmap and Vault features outlined above.

Final takeaway – why this remaster matters
By securing and rebuilding on the original source code, Nightdive targets authenticity over reinterpretation, while adding modern conveniences and substantial new content. For players, that means a familiar Blood that looks sharper, plays closer to 1997, and grows with new episodes through early 2026.
