Candy Crush Saga’s annual Music Season returns for 2025 with a 5-week, music-driven expedition that reimagines the game’s Saga adventure feature. The seasonal event weaves rhythm into match-3 progression, letting players compose their own in-game soundtrack while clearing levels. King adds a new Music Medley blocker, a cassette-based collection system, and the option to replay the expedition to unlock every mix. The season is live now in Candy Crush Saga, and arrives alongside the franchise’s first playable music video collaboration.

Story setup – the show must go on

A concert in the Candy Kingdom is about to start, but the stage is in disarray and the familiar cast – Jelly Queen, Yeti, and Mr Toffee – has overslept. By progressing through levels, players help the crew wake up, collect instruments, and reach the venue before the crowd loses patience. It’s a light narrative wrapper for a season focused on rhythm and progression.

Build your soundtrack as you play

The core twist this season is an interactive music-making layer that sits on top of progression. Across milestone levels, each Expedition turns into a mini jam session where you assemble a custom track.

  • Three musical layers – beat, harmony, melody – unlock across special levels.
  • After each special level, choose one of three layer options to add to your track.
  • Complete all three layers to generate a custom cassette tape based on your picks.
  • There are 27 possible combinations, and the event can be replayed up to 27 times to create them all.

This system ties your puzzle choices to audible results, encouraging experimentation across multiple loops of the expedition.

New blocker: Music Medley

A season-specific take on the Color Cluster blocker appears throughout the event with a music-inspired reskin. A short tutorial within levels explains the mechanic, adding a rhythmic twist to board management without departing from core match-3 logic.

Rewards and cassette collection

Standard Bronze, Silver, and Gold chests remain in rotation, but Music Season 2025 adds a cassette collection layer. There are 27 unique cassette tapes, each tied to a completed soundtrack combination. Finishing sets unlocks seasonal vanity items, including a headphone-themed profile frame, a music-inspired avatar, and a limited-edition profile frame. These cosmetics are available only during Music Season 2025.

Companion playable music video

Alongside the in-game expedition, Candy Crush Saga introduces its first playable music video in collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Thundercat, reimagining Diana Ross’s “Upside Down” with interactive, rhythm-driven visuals inspired by match-3 mechanics.
