Two free Hyrule Warriors updates bring Phantom Ganon, new modes and gear
Nintendo has rolled out two free updates for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on Nintendo Switch 2. The first package landed on Nov. 27, 2025, with a second arriving on Dec. 18, 2025. Together they add tougher enemy variants, additional weapons and materials, and a fresh layer of post‑game challenge. Several features – including a new boss encounter and difficulty option – unlock only after completing the main story. Both updates are available now.
Update #1 – Nov. 27, 2025

The initial drop focuses on expanding combat variety and loadouts. It introduces new Vicious enemy types and a collaboration attack that widens team‑play options.
- Vicious enemies: Bokoblins, Flux Constructs
- Sync Strike: new team move for Zelda and Calamo
- Expanded Sync Strike: the ability to Sync Strike with a Flux Construct
- New weapons: Longsword of Light, High Guard’s Spear
- New upgrade material: Pure Zonaite Steel
Update #2 – Dec. 18, 2025 (post‑game unlocks)
Most content in this wave becomes available after the main story is complete, pushing the endgame toward higher risk–higher reward play.
- Phantom Ganon: can appear in select battles after the story; increases monster aggression while yielding greater rewards on victory
- New weapon: Forbidden Blade
- Vicious enemies: Lizalfos, ChuChu
- New option: Forbidden Difficulty
- Mysterious Construct: new Unique Skills can be acquired
