Niantic has outlined a New Year event for Pikmin Bloom built around traditional Osechi Decor Pikmin. Osechi dishes symbolize health and good fortune in Japan — and here, that theme turns into new decor sets to collect. The event spans the entire month, layering in challenge missions, seasonal mushrooms, and returning decor from previous years. Ice Pikmin are included for Osechi, with specific exceptions noted below.

Beyond the cosmetics, the update tweaks how you earn seedlings during the event: clearing missions yields random rewards, and the central stage’s Big Flower guarantees a Gold Seedling when it blooms. Several decor sets rotate back in, offering more targets for collectors.

Event window and scope

The New Year event runs from Jan. 1 at 12:00 a.m. local time to Jan. 31 at 11:59 p.m. local time. Osechi Decor Pikmin are available for all Pikmin types, including Ice. The 2025 Party Popper and 2024 Glasses decor sets also return during this period; both are not available for Ice Pikmin.

How the event plays

  • Event Challenge missions – Each cleared mission grants random in‑app rewards that can include Koma Spinning Tops, seedlings for Osechi Decor Pikmin, flower petals, and other items.
  • Big Flower bonus – When the Big Flower at the center of the stage blooms, you receive a guaranteed Gold Seedling in addition to random rewards.
  • Event missions: Koma Spinning Tops – At the start of the event, missions to collect Koma Spinning Tops appear. Clearing them grants seedlings for 2024 Glasses Decor Pikmin and event-themed costumes for your Mii character.
  • Magnificent Mushrooms – These can spawn during the event. Destroying them awards Mystery Boxes that may contain Koma Spinning Tops and seedlings for 2025 Party Popper Decor Pikmin, among other items. Osechi, 2025 Party Popper, and 2024 Glasses Decor Pikmin are the strongest against these mushrooms.

Seedlings and decor sets: sources at a glance

The table summarizes where each decor seedling comes from and how many types are in each set. All sets are obtained at random and are not guaranteed to complete.

Seedling sources and type counts

Osechi Decor Pikmin Event Challenge mission rewards; Big Flower adds a guaranteed Gold Seedling 8 types

Notes and limitations

  • Version requirement – To display Osechi Decor correctly, the app requires v134.5 or later.
  • Randomized sets – Seedlings from all sources grow into one of the specified set types at random; completing a full set is not guaranteed.
  • Ice Pikmin availability – Osechi Decor supports all types including Ice. 2025 Party Popper and 2024 Glasses decor are not available for Ice Pikmin.
  • Event currency durationKoma Spinning Top missions disappear when the event ends, and Tops have no purpose outside this event. Tops can also be found via flower planting and Mystery Boxes during the event.

Why it matters – a seasonal loop with clear targets

This is a focused, monthlong loop for walkers who enjoy set collecting: mission clears feed seedlings, Magnificent Mushrooms reward engagement on the map, and the Big Flower ensures a Gold Seedling to anchor progression. If you’ve been waiting to expand your collection, the Osechi set — plus returning 2025 and 2024 decors — gives you several parallel goals across daily strolls.
