Nintendo has outlined a substantial update for the Flower Kingdom. Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 26, bringing a new area, fresh multiplayer activities and platform-specific enhancements. The announcement was made on January 22, 2026 alongside a new trailer. The package targets both co-op and competitive play while also adding accessibility features for newcomers. Owners of the original game will be able to access the new content via an upgrade pack.

Release and Platform

The edition is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 with content tuned for the system, including new control options. All new features are available at launch on March 26.

Bellabel Park – a New Hub for Multiplayer

Bellabel Park introduces two large plazas packed with activities designed for shared play. Expect a mix of team-based challenges and head‑to‑head competitions across bespoke attractions set within the Flower Kingdom.

Local Multiplayer Plaza

  • 17 attractions tailored for couch co‑op and competitive play.
  • Supports play with up to three friends on the same system.
  • Includes GameShare functionality for local sessions.

Game Room Plaza

  • Supports both online and local wireless play, with each player on their own system.
  • Features six additional attractions designed for larger groups.
  • Up to 12 friends can compete in these events.

New Modes, Characters and Encounters

  • Toad Brigade Training Camp – Skill trials set in courses from Super Mario Bros. Wonder. More training routes unlock as you progress through the main game. Tackle objectives solo or with up to three other players to climb Toad Brigade ranks.
  • Assist Mode – An optional safety net for newcomers. Enables quick recovery from pit falls without losing a life and offers damage avoidance regardless of the chosen character.
  • Rosalina joins the roster – The character makes her Flower Kingdom debut. Co‑Star Luma appears as an assist character in sessions with at least two players, helping by spinning to defeat enemies and collect coins. Luma can be controlled via Nintendo Switch 2 mouse control functionality.
  • Koopalings encounter – After a theft at Bellabel Park, the seven Koopalings scatter across the Flower Kingdom. Encountering them now leads to dedicated courses and boss battles.

Multiplayer Specifics at a Glance

  • 17 attractions in Local Multiplayer Plaza for same‑system play.
  • Six additional attractions in Game Room Plaza for online and local wireless play.
  • Group sizes scale up to 12 players in Game Room Plaza events.
  • GameShare is supported for local sessions on Nintendo Switch 2.

Upgrade Path for Existing Players

Players who own the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to access the new content via an upgrade pack.

Final Takeaway – Why It Matters

Bellabel Park centralizes Wonder’s multiplayer with a clear split between same‑system and system‑per‑player play, while Assist Mode and the arrival of Rosalina broaden its appeal. For groups that value flexible co‑op and larger competitive lobbies, the Switch 2 edition’s 17 attractions, six additional events and up to 12‑player support make it a substantial step up from the base game.
