Xbox Cloud Gaming expands to India as global usage trends surge
Xbox is widening access to its cloud service with a new market – India – and reporting higher engagement across platforms. With India added, Xbox Cloud Gaming now operates in 29 countries. Microsoft says cloud gaming hours among Xbox Game Pass subscribers are up 45% compared to the same period last year. Console users are also turning to streaming more often, spending 45% more time cloud streaming on console and 24% more on other devices. To handle the uptick, the company has increased in‑region server capacity to reduce wait times.
Usage trends: more time in the cloud
Xbox reports consistent growth in cloud playtime. Beyond the 45% year‑over‑year increase among Game Pass subscribers, the data shows console owners are opting to stream sessions more frequently. Microsoft attributes the shift to the ability to jump into games without downloads and play across different screens.
| Metric | Detail |
| YoY cloud hours (Game Pass subscribers) | +45% versus the same time last year |
| Cloud streaming on console | +45% time spent |
| Cloud streaming on other devices | +24% time spent |
New markets and regional momentum
India – identified by Microsoft as a fast‑growing gaming market – is the latest territory to join the service, pushing availability to 29 countries. In Latin America, Argentina and Brazil are seeing double‑digit growth in both playtime and active players. In those two countries, players can also stream via the Xbox app on LG TVs and Amazon Fire TV. To support the growth, Microsoft says it has expanded local server capacity to shorten queue times and improve session start speed.
Where you can play
Xbox Cloud Gaming supports a wide range of screens and form factors – an approach meant to let players access titles without local installs.
- Consoles and PCs
- Handhelds, smartphones, and tablets
- Smart TVs and Fire TV

Library and access
The cloud catalog continues to expand. Players can stream hundreds of titles via Xbox Game Pass, along with over a thousand more through the Stream your own game catalog. Microsoft highlights the variety by referencing big productions like The Outer Worlds 2 alongside independent projects such as Ball x Pit and Blue Prince. Multiple Xbox Game Pass plans include cloud access, providing several routes to play in the cloud.
Why it matters – more places to play, faster starts
For players, the headline is straightforward: more regions, more devices, and shorter waits. If you prefer streaming to downloads – or switch screens frequently – the broader footprint and server scaling mean faster access to a growing library across the ecosystems you already use.
