How to unlock Borderlands 4 cosmetics now – official recap
Gearbox and 2K shared a concise explainer for Borderlands 4 covering which cosmetics and gear are earnable in-game right now and the dates tied to each. The summary focuses on Twitch Drops, a launch-weekend community reward, a franchise loyalty perk for returning players, and a newsletter skin. All items are redeemed in-game via the Reward Center in the Inventory screen under Equipment. Cosmetics can then be equipped through the Customization tab.
Twitch Drops: dates and items

Watching any Borderlands 4 livestream in the game’s Twitch category for 20 minutes grants the “Watch, Drop, and Roll” ECHO-4 Drone Skin. This offer runs now–September 26. In addition, from September 11-30, players can earn two Legendary weapons via Drops: the “Forsaken Chaos” Legendary Shotgun and the “Midnight Defiance” Legendary Sniper Rifle. These rewards require a linked Twitch account and the same verified SHiFT account used in-game; each reward is limited to one redemption per SHiFT account.
Break Free Pack: launch weekend community reward

Following community activity on September 12-14, Gearbox issued a SHiFT code for the Break Free Pack. The pack contains:
- “Break Free” Vault Hunter Skin (usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, Harlowe)
- “Break Free” ECHO-4 Drone Skin
- “Kn0x” ECHO-4 Drone Skin
- “Firebreak” Legendary Ripper Shield – scales to your character level with a minimum of Level 25 upon redemption

The Break Free Pack must be redeemed by December 31, 2030 via the in-game Reward Center.
Franchise Loyalty Reward for returning players

Players who sign into Borderlands 4 with the same verified SHiFT account previously used in any of the following titles receive the “Paint the Town Crimson” ECHO-4 Drone Skin:
- Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition
- Borderlands 2
- Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
- Borderlands 3

“Hazard Pay” Weapon Skin via newsletter opt-in

The “Hazard Pay” Weapon Skin is available to players who opt in to newsletters and digital marketing using a verified SHiFT account and link their platform accounts. The offer ends at 11:59 PM PT on December 31, 2030. Delivery can take up to one week after logging in with the eligible account.
How redemption works in-game

All earnable rewards are delivered through the Reward Center in the Inventory screen under Equipment. Cosmetics can be equipped at any time from the Customization tab. Unless otherwise stated, redemptions are limited to one per SHiFT account.

Below is a quick reference for the rewards highlighted in the official recap. It lists the item, the method to earn it, and the relevant time window or deadline.
Final takeaway – what this means for players
The studio has centralized the timelines and requirements for current, non-purchase unlocks in Borderlands 4. If you want specific cosmetics or gear, the key is knowing where they come from and the cut-off dates – then claiming them through the in-game Reward Center.
