Activision has outlined the latest progress on Call of Duty’s player safety push, sharing new statistics, upcoming regional rollouts, and feature updates. The company says it is focused on fair, fun, and welcoming matches, using both automated systems and community reports to curb disruptive behavior. The update spans data since the launch of Black Ops 6 and current efforts in Call of Duty: Warzone, with an eye on features arriving alongside Black Ops 7. The approach combines proactive detection, faster enforcement, and clearer feedback for players.

Activision reports a significant scale-up in moderation across recent titles. Since Black Ops 6 launched – and across Warzone – the team has issued over 8 million warnings as a first step, encouraging players to correct behavior before stronger action. In addition, there have been over 8.3 million enforcements for disruptive conduct, covering offensive voice chat, text chat, and usernames. Enforcements range from communication limits to default renaming.

In total, that is more than 16 million actions – over double the volume recorded two years ago – indicating improvements in the scale, speed, and precision of moderation. According to Activision, since December 2024 repeat offense rates have dropped by more than 43% in Black Ops 6 and 38% in Warzone. Mentions of disruptive gameplay on social platforms also fell by 46% in early 2025 versus the previous five months.

Coverage is expanding to more regions and languages

Moderation for Black Ops 7 and Warzone will soon reach additional players worldwide. Proactive voice moderation is set to launch in Australia and New Zealand, joining existing coverage across North America, South America, Europe, and Africa. Language support is also growing, with Italian being added to the supported voice moderation languages alongside English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German.

Since 2023, Activision says the number of supported voice moderation languages has doubled, and regional coverage now spans five continents. The stated goal is to deliver consistent, real-time protections regardless of where players are or which language they use.

The tech behind the filters and enforcement

Activision’s moderation ecosystem blends in-house systems with trusted partners. Modulate’s ToxMod is used for voice chat analysis, while Microsoft’s Community Sift handles text chat, clan tags, and usernames. These services feed a broader detection layer that Activision integrates with proprietary technology and enforcement pipelines to keep response times fast and decisions consistent.

The company highlights improved speed through instant username checks at creation, proactive voice and text moderation, and increased automation in reporting flows. This setup is designed to identify violations more precisely and inform systems that reinforce positive play.

Player-facing updates: controls, feedback, and small wins

  • Improved “Thanks” prompt in Warzone (coming soon): The appreciation tool will be easier to find and use. Hitting the Thanks button will automatically post a message in team text chat – for example, acknowledging a revive – to reinforce teamwork moments.
  • New communication preset for Black Ops 7 (launch day): A single setting will let players control who can contact them in-game, centralizing toggles for public voice or text chat, invites, and friend requests.
  • Report confirmations and status updates (coming soon): Players will see immediate confirmation that a report was received, followed by a notification after review indicating that it has been processed under internal policies.

Research-backed approach and what’s next

Activision continues to work with Caltech to study player interactions and better understand the drivers of positive and negative behavior. The company points to this research as a foundation for moderation design and ongoing system improvements. More information about this collaboration is available at research.activision.com.

Looking ahead, Activision plans to keep expanding language coverage, refining moderation tools, and adding features that give players more control over communication and reporting. The team states that steady, year-over-year progress remains the goal.

Bottom line – why it matters

For players, the takeaway is straightforward: more coverage, more clarity, and stronger tools. With measurable drops in repeat offenses and broader voice moderation on the way, Call of Duty aims to reduce friction in matches and give you clearer control over how you communicate and who can reach you.
