Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Maps out Dlc with Free Modes This Year
Bandai Namco used the Genkidamatsuri event to confirm a slate of DLC for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero arriving this year. The add-ons will expand the roster, cosmetics and playable modes. The publisher also outlined a phased rollout across platforms, starting with free updates. Veteran singer Hironobu Kageyama returns to the series for the DLC theme – his first contribution in 18 years to content tied to the Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! lineage.
Beyond new fighters, the update plan introduces solo challenges and endurance play, with timing split between spring, summer and winter windows. Details on additional characters will follow, but several names are already set.
What's Included in the New Content
- New characters – confirmed so far: Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan) and King Piccolo; more to be revealed.
- New costumes – additional outfit options for the roster.
- New stages – fresh arenas for versus play.
- New modes – two free modes headline the rollout (see below).
- DLC theme song by Hironobu Kageyama – lyrics and composition handled by Kageyama himself, marking his first Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!-related theme in 18 years.
Free Modes Lead the Roadmap
The first mode arrives as a free update titled “Mission 100” – a solo challenge featuring 100 battles with preset conditions for both your team and the opposing side. The structure echoes a mode seen in DRAGON BALL Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, emphasizing scenario-based fights over pure sandbox bouts.
A second free update is planned for this spring with the addition of “Survival Mode”, focusing on endurance play across consecutive encounters.
Release Timing and Platforms
The release cadence is staggered by platform. The core DLC wave targets current-gen consoles and PC in the summer window, while Nintendo platforms begin Season Pass delivery later in the year. The table below summarizes the announced windows.
Release windows by platform
| PlayStation 5 | Summer – new DLC content |
| Xbox Series X|S | Summer – new DLC content |
| PC | Summer – new DLC content |
| Nintendo Switch | Winter – Season Pass DLC begins, more content later |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Winter – Season Pass DLC begins, more content later |

Bottom Line – a Structured Dlc Rollout with Early Free Modes
For players, the headline is clear: Mission 100 and Survival Mode arrive as no-cost updates, with broader DLC landing in summer on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and Season Pass delivery starting in winter on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Expect roster growth, fresh arenas and a new Kageyama-led theme to anchor the expansion throughout the year.
